Videography & Oblivion

As you can see, we have a brand new look here at the official Jenova Project website. I've been steadily working away at all things Jenova over the last couple of months, but the updates have been slow due to a wide variety of reasons. I will touch on that in future updates, as there will be many more of them coming up. But in the meantime, let's get to what's happening (and not focus on why it took so long... not yet at least), cause there's been a lot of things happening for both myself, and the various musical collaboratorers I have surrounded myself with in these recent years.
Since I realeased Z Day, my first full length album with vocals on it, I have been actively working on attempting to shoot a music video in promotion of the release. I always felt the album was extremly cinematic, and would greatly benefit from such an experiance. However, due to obvious financial difficulties in securing a videographer on a no-budget band, eventaully the process got stalled. Stalled that is until I finally got my own camera. I purchased A Canon Rebel Ti5 along with several high quality lens, and seveveral tripod and tripod like-accessories. Shortly after a friend of mine introduced me to a program called PowerDirector: music videos here I come!
So that's one of the major projects I've been actively persuing the last couple of months. Not only shooting videos, but attempting to master my skills in videography. The first video that I will have shot is for the musical project Matt & Colin, a new wave / electronic dance music project that I play keys and do mixing for. We shot principal photography at the beginning of March, and did our finishing performance shots last week, and plan to have it released by the end of the week!
Next week, using the knowledge and skills I gathered from doing the Matt & Colin video shoot, I will begin shooting the first video for the Z Day album. We are looking at shooting a music video for the song Infection. The song will feature live action performances of me singing and playing keys, as well as a scripted story acted out by several members of the Infidel Netwerk. It will feature some of the most dynamic and entertaining work done by Jenova Project to date.
Really exciting to finally take control of my own destiny here, as I feel a lot of the reasons Jenova Project has been held back in the past is due to continually relying on other people for either recording, filming, promotion, etc. In the last couple of years I said screw relying on others, and got my own recording studio, learned the mixing and mastering side of things, set up a record label for my own music distribution, and now I have gathered a camera and learned how to use it to shoot my own music videos. The only thing I really need to do next is live shows, and that is VERY MUCH IN THE WORKS (as I have gathered my own P.A. System, and got several drummers who are willing to play for my first shows... so it's just a matter of time... one thing at time folks!).
There's a lot more to talk about, and I have a lot more in the works, but I'll save the rest for my next update. Expect up-to-twice weekly updates, so I suggest coming back if you want up to date Jenova Project information. My goal is to try to turn this into the official Jenova Project blog, with frequent updates. In the meantime, if you want a more personalized update on my day to day add me on Twitter, my profile name is JenovaProphet, or add m on Facebook.
